They say not to judge a book by its cover, but can the same be said for album covers? It's hard to resist judging some of these albums based on their covers alone. Many of them look like they were created by amateur CGI artists, rather than professional designers.

Some of these covers look more like cheesy animations from a bowling alley than pieces of art. And why do so many metal album covers seem to be particularly bad? Is it the result of headbanging-induced brain damage?
